My name is Pete Trevino Jr. I am a member of the Comanche Nation. Currently, I am the Native American Spiritual Leader at California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi, California. I also worked at Wasco State Prison as well. I have worked for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation since 2002. I started in the department as a volunteer in 1996. I have worked with Native American youth with Torres Martinez Tribal TANF and the Southern California Indian Center. I helped form the Kern River Intertribal Council nonprofit organization in Bakersfield California, a nonprofit formed to help Native American youth and families in Kern County. I currently live in Tehachapi and look forward to working together to help bring a positive change for Native Americans in the California Department of Corrections and Native Americans thoughout California.
